GreenSocs Ltd is a normal UK limited liability company. GreenSocs undertakes contracts to develop "Electronic System Level" related intellectual property (IP). This is typically, though not exclusively, based on SystemC.
GreenSocs can work strictly on behalf of a customer, with the eventual copyright of the IP being fully ascribed to the customer, or the resulting IP can be licensed back to the customer but its copyright maintained by GreenSocs (See Licenses).
If the resulting IP is a derivative of an existing piece of GreenSocs infrastructure, then the customer will be granted a license to the IP.
GreenSocs is especially cost effective where the cost of larger infrastructure projects can be shared.
To make use of GreenSocs infrastructure, under the terms of the GreenSocs subscribers license (GSL), GreenSocs charges a small subscription fee (€5000/year).
The GreenSocs mission is to promote the adoption of ESL techniques, and in order to do so, most of the contracts GreenSocs undertakes result in IP being made available publicly on the GreenSocs web site. This can then be used as a central repository for infrastructure by GreenSocs customers, and more importantly, their customers and suppliers.
