SerialSocket

Model to Model
SerialSocket is a GreenSocket based TLM-2.0 serial socket. It carries the same advantages as other GreenSocket based sockets, but caters specifically for serial connections (e.g. UART, USB, etc).

To create the model of a SoC/IP that deals with IO signals, it becomes necessary to connect the model with a host computers IO connections, or to a terminal for the user to interact with.

The SerialSocket framework provides an interface specifically designed for the efficient connection of serial driver models to the user’s host simulation environment, or to verification components designed to check the functionality of the serial driver model.

We refer to the object that finally connects the serial model to the the user’s host simulation environment, or performs the verification as a ‘back end’.

The SerialSocket contains a GreenRouter based interconnect that can be used to connect many SerialSockets together, or to many ‘back-ends’.
